D.A.V Ara, is one of the oldest schools in Bokaro Zone, came into existence in 1982 when then Chairman of Coal India Ltd. Shri R.N. Sharma resolved to set up Schools in the coalfields under CCL. The authorities of D.A.V CMC, New Delhi volunteered to translate the dream of Mr. Sharma into reality. Then it was a small school. Teaching was imported from Class IV to VII. The number of students was 75 and the teachers were only four. Its first Principal was Sh. J.N. Rishi. Needless to say Mr.Rishi encountered host of problems in running this school in a remote area which was not so accessible those days.
The C.B.S.E granted affiliation to this school in 1984 and the first batch of the school appeared in the All Indian Secondary School Examination IN 1986.
During the Tenure of Sh. N.R. Asthana as Principal, the junior wing which ran at that time at Sarubera was clubbed with the senior wing in 1988 where the present school exists.
The longest tenure of principal-ship, except the tenure of Sh. R.K. Roy the present principal of the school, was of late N.R. KARGUPTA. During his regime the school coined name and fame. It was Late Mr. Kargupta who initiated teaching in science at plus two level. The first batch of the school appeared in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations in 1995.
After 2000 the school flourished a lot at all levels. The strength of 950 started increasing year after year.
The management of potable water was streamlined in the school premises. Further in the best interest of the local & nearly students, commerce stream was added at +2 level along with information technology. At present the strength of the students has reached up to 1550 with 66 staff members . Needless to say that the school received ample support from the Director, DAV Public Schools, Ranchi Zone Shri L.R. Saini whose guidance charismatic leadership and moral support have turned out to be a boon for us.
In recent years students of this school have registered their performance not only in academics but also in games and sports at the students smashed all the previous records of the school in CBSE Examinations and secured top position at state level.
In games & sports also, students of this school fagged top ranks not only at state but also at national level. In I.T QUIZ competition organized by MICA AT state level in Ranchi. Dav Ara grabbed the Winner trophy by defeating an outstanding over 250 schools from Jharkhand state. The Students of DAV Ara added a feather to the cap of the school by receiving the Winner Trophy at the hands of his Excellency Shri. Syed ASibte Raji, then the Governor of Jharkhand. The students of DAV Ara also bagged Winner trophy in Senior boys at CBSE cluster level athletic meet held at Bokaro. They have bagged the championship at CBSE Cluster level KHO-KHO tournament held at Bokaro. These are the instances that substantiate that DAV Ara is committed to impart quality teaching and instill in students the feeling of discipline, self confidence & moral values. The school has an army of well qualified , competent, sincere, committed and dedicated teachers. In order to arm the teachers with latest teaching techniques & methodologies, the school sends them off & on to attend different workshop & seminars organized by CBSE and DAVIIER . Till now this school has helped producing 14 principals, 24 IIT engineers, 8 medical Officers and 17 MBA’s.
